Abstract

The nervous system, consisting of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves, serves as the central control unit of the human body, regulating all physiological functions and behavioral responses. In children, this system is still developing, making it particularly vulnerable to infectious, inflammatory, and metabolic disturbances. Nervous system diseases in childhood—especially meningitis, encephalitis, and epilepsy—represent serious medical conditions that may result in long-term neurological and cognitive impairment if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Meningitis and encephalitis are among the most life-threatening pediatric infections.[2,5,9]
